Women of Ebonyi North zone have declared their support for Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru' s re - election bid , saying his achievements and support for women have earned him their backing ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The President of the Association, Associate Professor Chinyere Elom disclosed this on Saturday 29th August, 2027 , at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium during an endorsement event organized by the women .
Elom was optimistic that Ebonyi North women gathered to support the Governor because of his commitment to the development of the State and his friendly disposition towards Ebonyi women , which according to her,
the Governor had helped some women secure important positions and had done a lot for Ebonyi women were among the reasons they decided to endorse him for the 2027 governorship election to continue the good work.
She explained that the women were not only endorsing the Governor but were also mobilising voters across the state adding members of the association had visited different local governments and wards to campaign for the Governor and encourage women to participate actively in the electoral process.
In their separate speeches , the chairman Civil Service Commission , Lady Virgy Oketa and the chairman Ebonyi Health Insurance Scheme, Mrs Elizabeth Ogbaga said they were also educating those without voters’ cards to obtain them ahead of the election.
They both expressed confidence that the women would repeat the large turnout recorded during the Last local government election and vote massively for the Governor in the 2027 election.
They said that the endorsement was a way of appreciating the administration for what it had done for the people of the state and further commended the First Lady for supporting less privileged women and widows in rural areas through housing projects which they said 23 had been commissioned while another set of houses are still under construction.
They therefore urged Governor to seek another term to enable him to consolidate on his achievements in Ebonyi State.
