Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the demonstrators demanded the arrest and prosecution of those they believe are responsible for the recent attacks. They specifically mentioned Nurudeen Alowonle, urging law enforcement agencies to investigate the allegations surrounding him and ensure that anyone found culpable faces justice through due process. The allegations reported by protesters have not been determined by a court.
According to representatives of the protesting groups, the recent violence has affected the safety of commuters, forced some transport operators to suspend business, and heightened concerns over security within motor parks across the state. Protest leaders also appealed for increased police presence to restore confidence among workers and the travelling public.
The demonstration comes amid heightened security concerns in Osun following a series of violent incidents in recent weeks. The Nigeria Police Force has previously stated that it is investigating multiple politically related killings in the state, while Governor Ademola Adeleke has repeatedly called on security agencies to arrest anyone found responsible for acts of violence, regardless of political affiliation.
