Nwifuru Fumes As Gunmen Kill Another Traditional Ruler In Ebony Community

Ebonyi State governor,  Francis Nwifuru  has  condemned in its strongest terms,
 the killing o the Traditional ruler of f Ishinkwo  autonomous Community, Eze Josephat Ikegwu, describing the act as barbaric and a grave assault on the peace, unity, and collective conscience of the state.

Eze Josephat Ikegwu was murdered  exactly a month after the abduction and murder of Eze Francis Igwe, the Traditional Ruler of Ndufu Alike autonomous community and Father to immediate past Deputy Governor of the state.


Governor has directed the state’s joint security architecture to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the monarch’s murder and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

“It is with a heart weighed down by grief and deep anguish that I condemn the gruesome and senseless murder of His Royal Highness, Ezeogo Josephat Ikegwu of Isinkwo Community in Onicha Local Government Area,” Nwifuru said.

“This tragic act is not only an attack on our revered traditional institution but also a direct affront to the peace, unity, and collective conscience of Ebonyi State.”

Nwifuru extended his condolences to the family of the late monarch, the people of Isinkwo Community, and residents of Onicha Local Government Area, assuring them that the government would not remain passive in the face of such violence.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the late monarch and the entire community. Let me assure the people of Ebonyi, particularly the people of Isinkwo, that this administration will not fold its arms in the face of such evil,” he said.

The governor noted that decisive steps had already been taken to address recurring security challenges in the state, adding that security agencies had been fully mobilised to track down the perpetrators.

He stressed that no individual or group would be shielded from justice, regardless of status or influence.

“There will be no sacred cows. No individual or group, no matter how highly placed or connected, will be spared if found culpable,” he declared.

Nwifuru reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasising that peace and security remain fundamental to development.

“The sanctity of human life remains non-negotiable under my watch. Without peace, there can be no progress; without security, there can be no future,” he said.

He also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and security agencies to work together to maintain peace and uphold social order across the state
