ADC Chieftain Faults INEC's Meddling Into Internal Parfy Affairs

By Celestine Okeh

Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu has faulted the independent electoral commission (INEC)  for delisting the national leadership of the party in its portal, stressing that INEC lack such powers, insisting that Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola remains the
National Chairman Secretary of ADC.

In an interview with our reporter, the ADC Chieftain maintained that there's no disturbing issues in ADC that should warrant such action from INEC.

Chukwu cited the Constitution and electoral act which prohibit INEC from interfering in the internal affairs of political parties.
"You know, the Constitution is very clear, especially the Electoral Act. You know, INEC actually doesn't have a right to determine the affairs of a political party. It is the decision of every political party to pick their leaders.
So if there were matters that were in court, our political party already understands that. This matter has already been appealed and definitely, we are going to get justice
because the INEC has no  business with the organization
of an internal affairs of political party,  because it's an intra-political system,
and so they don't have a business with that. So, Former Senate President David Mark and former Governor Rauf Aregbesola remains our national championship and national secretary".

Chukwu affirmed that the ADC is strongly united under the leadership of Senator David Mark and has no faction currently.
"As far as I'm concerned, there is no faction in ADC.
The reason I'm saying this is that if there was a faction,
I'm not sure, even INEC itself would be saying that we are not taking any faction.
There were issues".

.

What was the time of the resignation?
What was the time that it was submitted to INEC?
How come all of a sudden INEC is unable to tell the truth?
But INEC is also basing its own judgment based on the court's judgment.
Its actions, I mean.
INEC is basing its own actions, not judgment, sorry to say,
based on the court judgment.
So, I mean, I don't understand the kind of country that we run.
What kind of country is this?
A country whereby the opposition party fights so hard
to see that they destroy, the ruling party fights so hard
to see that they destroy other opposition parties?
We have to find a way to make sure that democracy thrives.
Democracy rules.
And that should be the point of conduct for every politician.
all those that are in office look at what is going on don't you think that is a complete mess
don't you think that the mistakes that our leaders are doing it's it's unnatural
for instance i could i come from a particular area i have oppositions they call me they fight
me but what i do is i talk to them i try to make them understand and i bring them together
Oh, what the...
But on this particular issue, it's most demeaning for us to think
that everything that INEC is doing is right.
I would not be surprised, even if the presidency is not aware of this.
Even if the presidency is not aware of this.
Maybe they're just doing things on their own.
But even if the presidency was aware of this, they need to put them to check.
I strongly believe that everything will be brought to check.
How is the ADC fairing? There's a recent opera within the leadership of ADC.
Somebody says they want to impose candidates, want to dislodge and all those things.
So what is happening to the ADC family in Ebun State, to which you firmly belong?
Please, I want to ask you first, who said so?
Can you call the name?
it has been it has been being on the media the the chairman the current chairman of
adc what's her name please dr jennifer adib
See you soon.
that the former governor of the state, Dr. Sam Ergo, is trying to disintegrate the party and
force unpopular candidate to become the chairman of the party. What do you have to say about it?
Well, I think I need to tell you that this is misconceptions.
First of all, let me state it very clearly, and here and now,
that nobody can relate an act of inconsistency, dishonesty,
and untruthfulness to a personality like Dr. Senator Samewu, His Excellency,
because he has lived through time, even after he left the seat as governor.
He was once a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
and also a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
What I'm trying to say is this, that with the way he has related to everybody,
it is difficult and almost impossible for somebody to tell,
tell me that he is a man of a questionable character.
In fact, one of the reasons we are all following him,
we will continue to follow him, because he is not a man of questionable character.
And if he says, I think it is like this, I think I should believe him,
because it was during his time that there was complete political peace,
democratic relevance, the best government in Ebony State ever produced.
development of human uh human development humankind and he also helped a lot of them
to grow all these people you find today even the people that are fighting some able today
he made them who they are by the time he was being governor and with the powers that
he had to help people at that time so i don't think anybody should get up and come and tell me
that there was a time that samuel or right now as we are
