2027: Ikwo North Stakeholders, APC Leaders Endorse Nwifuru, Nwakpu for Second Term

In recognition of their performances and the need for continuity, stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikwo North State Constituency have unanimously endorsed the re-election bids of the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and the member representing Ikwo North Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifeanyi Nwakpu.

The decision was reached during an enlarged meeting of stakeholders, party executives in Ikwo Local Government Area, and ward executives of the APC drawn from the 10 political wards of Ikwo North Constituency.

Speaking at the meeting, which was held at the Ndufu Echara residence of the lawmaker, the APC Chairman in Ikwo LGA, Mr. Sunday Onuzu, said the gathering, which has become a quarterly routine courtesy of the State Assembly member, was convened to discuss strategic issues concerning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the re-election of Governor Nwifuru was sacrosanct and urged the people of Ikwo North State Constituency to also support Hon. Ifeanyi Nwakpu for a second term.

Other speakers highlighted the numerous achievements and remarkable progress recorded by the Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Governor Nwifuru, which Hon. Nwakpu has complemented through effective legislative representation. They therefore resolved to adopt the duo as their preferred APC candidates for the 2027 elections.

In their separate remarks, former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. David Onuoha, former Chairmen of Ikwo LGA, Elder John Nte, and Elder Hon. Stephen Orogwu, said their decision to support the Governor and the lawmaker was based on their satisfactory leadership, commitment to peace, rural development, and the opportunity to complete their second tenures.

Also speaking, the State Assistant Secretary of APC, Hon. Sunday Nwafor; the State Youth Leader, Prince Ogbonnaya Alo; and the Zonal Women Leader, Hon. Mrs. Priscillia Nwogbaga, among others, commended the quality representation and effective leadership style of the state lawmaker.

They pledged to convey the outcome of the meeting to the state leadership of the APC and Governor Nwifuru, who has the final say on who will fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election.

Responding, Hon. Ifeanyi Nwakpu thanked party leaders and stakeholders of the constituency for their confidence in Governor Nwifuru and himself.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all dividends of democracy due to the constituency are delivered and promised to redouble his efforts if given the opportunity to serve a second term.

Hon. Nwakpu further pledged to place greater emphasis on youth empowerment, security, infrastructural development, and other essential needs of the people if re-elected.
