The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency, Ebonyi State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, says the state was ranking first in scholarship programs in the country following Governor Francis Nwifuru's award of scholarships to many students across the state.
He lauded the Governor for the foreign and local scholarships granted to many scholars in the state.
92 beneficiaries for the 2nd batch of the state government scholarship scheme were airlifted to the United Kingdom on Monday this week for their studies in the various universities in the European country.
Last year, the first batch of about 300 Ebonyi students were sent to top universities in the United Kingdom to pursue Master’s and Ph.D programmes which was fully sponsored by the state government through its scholarship board.
Ogah while reacting to the scholarships, described Governor Francis Nwifuru as a visionary and people leader.
He commended the Governor for having the hear of giving by investing in human which has distinguished him from other leaders.
He said the scholarships will transform the educational landscape of the state.
The lawmaker opined that the Governor was laying solid foundation in the education sector and prayed God to continue to give him the wisdom to continue to touch lives and all the sectors of the governance.
"His Excellency our dear Governor is laying good legacies in infrastructure, civil service, human capital development, education, health and all the sectors of governance.
"His program and policies are people -oriented. He has invested enormous resources in the scholarship scheme and these scholarships will bring chain reaction in the education sector.
The Governor will be the first Governor that will contest election in Ebonyi unopposed because of his leadership style", Ogah said.
He urged the beneficiaries of the scholarships to make the Governor, the state and their parents proud by focusing on their studies and avoid anything that will bring to the state to disrepute.
