Commissioner, Lawmaker Task Omege Echara New Leadership On Peace Building, Inclusive Leadership

The newly elected Chairman, Youth President and other executives of Omege Echera Village in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State have been inaugurated. The inauguration followed the conclusion of the remaining youth President Election which saw Mr. Chetachukwu Udoka emerge as the New Village Youth President.

Addressing the newly elected executives shortly after their inauguration, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Prof. Paul Awo Nwobasi, described the election as successful, free, and fair. He commended the people of Omege Echera Village for their calmness and peaceful conduct during and after the election. The Commissioner who was represented by the HOD of Conflict Management in the Ministry, Dr. Martin Igwurube, urged the newly elected leaders to use their executive positions to serve and unite the people of Omege Echera and by supporting the already existing peace initiatives of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the area.

Among the newly elected & inaugurated Executive of Omege Echera Village include; Mr. Friday Nwonu as Chairman, Mr. Ebonyi Nwekoyo - Vice Chairman,  Mr. Sunday Omunchi as the village Secretary while Mr. Chetachukwu Udoka was sworn in as the youth President.

In his speech shortly after the inauguration, the Member Representing Ikwo North State Constituency, Hon. Ifeanyi Nwakpu applauded the State Government and the Ministry of Border-Peace & Conflict Resolution for their timely intervention in the election, when the first one was nullified and the youth President Election declared inconclusive in the second one, resulting to another election which was later won by Mr. Udoka Chetachukwu. He called on both winners and losers to embrace peace by working together in the interest of moving Omege Echera Village forward to enhance development in the area.

In their acceptance speech, the new Chairman of Omege Echera Village, Mr. Friday Nwonu and the Youth President General, Mr. Chetachukwu Udoka expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the people of Omege Echera Village for finding them worthy to serve as their Chairman and Youth President respectively. They promised to operate an open door  administration and to carry everyone along in the development of Omege Echera Village.

Stakeholders and government functionaries present, thanked the people of Omege Echara for giving peace a chance and advised them to support their new leaders to achieve success in their administration.
