Education Commissioner Assures Of CB-WASSCE Compliance in Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Education Dr. Donatus Ilang has assured the Ministry's strict effort to ensure compliance and successful Computer Base Test in the 2025/2026 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination in the state.

Dr. Ilang made the assurance during the annual WAEC and Education Stakeholders meeting held in Government House, Centenary City Abakaliki., 

The Hon. Commissioner appreciated WAEC effort for inculcating Computer Base Test CBT  into educational system, stating that it will enhance quality education, curb examination malpractices, enhance quick release of result and other things that has to do with digital education.

He further explained that CBT is pressing and refocusing educational system in West Africa and Nigeria which will enforce teachers and students imbibe the principle of Information Communication Technology ICT compliance in all schools.

Dr. Ilang emphasized that Ebonyi State will be first in ensuring that the new innovation of the Federal Ministry of Education is taking to the grassroots, pointing out that it will reshape the ideologies attached in Ebonyi State educational System and the preparedness of students towards writing external examinations. He added that the Federal Government plane and strategies to reform Education is in tandem with that of Ebonyi State Governor Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

The Education Commissioner reassured WAEC of Ebonyi State commitment to maintain the relationship that has been existing between Ebinyi State and WAEC  over years.

Dr. Ilang encouraged teachers, principals, NAPPS, ANCOPSS, FAITH BASED PROPRIETORS NUT, PTA and other education critical stakeholders to employ every possible implementation strategies starting from registration, so that Ebonyi will give an edge ahead of other states.

In her remarks, the permanent Secretary Ebonyi State Ministry of Education Mr. Ngozi Otozi expressed delight over the meeting going on successfully in Ebonyi state, stating that the meeting will proffer solution to some challenges associating with WASSCE. 

Mrs. Otozi implored directors in the meeting to take the meeting seriously so that every necessary information about the CBT would be passed to the students who are preparing to take the 2925/2026 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

Mrs. Onodu E.N. Senior Deputy Registrar/Director of Administration WAEC, Yaba and the Principal Assistant Registrar /Branch Controller, WAEC , Abakaliki Mrs. Mgbike G.O. said that the meeting bwas to discuss the affairs of WAEC in Ebonyi State for the common good of Ebonyi Child bringing about the past and present activities of WAEC in Ebonyi State, Ex-Ray and positively criticize the activities and proffer recommendations on best way forward

Mrs. Onodu appreciated the State Government for allowing the meeting hold in a conducive manner, pointing out that CBT has been used in successfully in WAEC Exams with selected schools and the Federal Government saw it as the best examination conducted void of logistics and material movement problems and curbing malpractices.  

Earlier, the Director in charge of Secondary Education Department Mrs. Chikezie Mgboro who chaired the meeting, encouraged the participant to think out positive ideas that will mean well with Ebonyi Children.

Mrs. Mgboro warned against very late registration, stating that such scenario may not be allowed in the 2025/2026 WAEC registration which has already Commenced and normal registration will end on 12th December, 2025.
