The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru has called on Ezza people residing outside the shores of Nigeria under the aegis of Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization, EEIDO to bring home their wealth of experiences and ingenuities to develop Ebonyi State and to support his administratuon for a successful Ebonyi.
Governor Nwifuru represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Ebonyi State Diaspora Desk Officer, Mr Valentine Okike made the call in a zoom meeting he held with the group over the weekend.
The zoom Interactive meeting which attracted sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna living countries across continents of the world under the auspices of Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization, EEIDO was aimed at intimating the Ezzas outside Nigeria on the programmes and policies of the Governor in order for them to lend their voices for to the development of the state.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Valentine Okike described Governor Nwifuru as a man on a mission to salvage Ebonyi people and expressed his happiness that the Ezza clan is giving the Governor their support evident in the Ezza people among the state Executive Council doing well and encouraged Ezza people outside the shores of Nigeria to contribute to the development of the state.
Mr. Okike who pledged that the Governor would always be open to Ezza people in the Diaspora enumerated the achievements of the Governor to include empowerment, employment, infrastructural development, inclusion of the people in the governance of the state among others but regretted that Ebonyi was yet to have industries even though the state has enough raw materials and called on members of Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization to invest in the state as there are policies that protect investors.
The President General of Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization, resident in the United Kingdom, Chief Chukwuma Anyigor on behalf of the group appreciated Governor Nwifuru for his governance in the state and assured that the organization would stop at nothing to support the Governor even as they look forward to having face to face interaction with him.
The National President of Unwuada Ezza Ezekuna Development Union, Lady Frances Mgbada and Director of Programme, Mrs. Ngozi Oketa, Dr. Ifeoma Nwakpa and Mrs. Virgie Nweze among members of the daughters of Ezza Ezekuna who the EEIDO had in audience thanked the Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization for defiling distance ti develop home stating that their organization complements EEIDO role at home.
They said they have constructed four toilets at Okpoku Ezekuna and are now on sensitization for voter registration across thirty nine communities of Ezza Ezekuna in order to encourage the clan to need up their number in the INEC portal and appealed for the support of the Ezza Ezekuna in Diaspora Organization to achieve success, especially for the unity of Ezza people.
Participants in the meeting including the President of Ebonyi people in the Diaspora, Dr. Martin Itumo, the Organization's General Secretary, Mr. Azubike Nwogwu from USA, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the group, Mr. Uchenna Nwekpamb resident in Norway among other officials and members took turns to ask questions about the policies and Programme of the State Government aimed at encouraging investments so that those in the diaspora would bring in their expertises to develop Ebonyi.
