The people at the grassroot are usually more enghlightened than those at the urban setting, because they truly know who is genuinely for them and or against them.
You are against them, if after winning your election, you refuse or did not bring any reasonable or notable democracy dividends to their doorsteps.
It is rather unfortunate that some incongruous and selfish politicians use the opportunity provided by electioneering campaigns, to come back home, and appease their constituents, simply because of their Inglourious intentions to retain their positions.
But this is not the case with Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, OON, who has an unbeatable and enduring attachment to his constituents. What else or in what vocabulary can you use to describe a man, who is not after his own personal gains but the gains of the people of Ebonyi State. These beneficiaries, during and after their graduation will help to reshape, rewrite and change the narrative of Ebonyi State forever.
This enviable investment of his is indeed transformational, altruistic, and very profound, as its gains or return on investment, ROI, will transcend the present generation of Ebonyi people.
This grassroot politician with a difference, has been executing live-touching projects, with the mindset and pure intention of complementing the efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in various sectors of the economy.
Those ganging up to contest against him and those showcasing the attributes of ingratitude, having benefitted from his meritorious gestures, should have a rethink, because he is coming as a storm to continue his reign and adminstration as a competent and courageous Federal legislator, designed to meet the apparent needs of his people, without any form of compromise.
There's no room for another candidate because every where you go, his signature projects, grandiloquent empowerment programmes and steady humanitarian services pervade the entire landscape of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State.
Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki last Sunday, the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogah, OON, stated that he is not worried about the number of those who wish to contest against him in the 2027 general elections.
He pointed out that as a grassroot politician, his votes will come from his Constituents and well meaning Ebonyi people, who believe in his mandate and what he has been able to accomplish, since his attainment as a House of representatives member.
He further dismissed what he described as “cheap propaganda” from political opponents and insisted that no lawmaker in Ebonyi State has matched his record of grassroot development, human empowerment and gesture to Ebonyi people.
Ogah said his entrance into politics was “divinely orchestrated” stressing that his performance in office and even before his election stand as a testament to his commitment to the people.
According to him, his track records in education, employment, and community projects and services remain unbeatable in the annals of Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State.
“Since I began as National Assembly member, I have put my energy into serving the people. Show me any National Assembly member who has achieved what I have done. There is no ward where I have not done a project, whether it is water, electricity, boreholes, or roads".
He recalled that long before he emerged as a Lawmaker, he had paid WAEC fees for thousands of students and trained many young people in vocational and tertiary institutions. “Many of those I trained are today graduates, lecturers, and even commissioners,” he said.
The Lawmaker, however, lamented that some of the very individuals who benefitted from his generosity had turned around to criticize him, due to their selfish political gains.
He accused them of “ingratitude,” noting that politics should be about presenting oneself to the people and earning their mandate, not “making noise on Facebook.”
Ogah also accused unnamed politicians from Ikwo of working against Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru during the last election, only to turn around and pretend to be loyal.
Ogah who declared his loyalty to the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, added that those so-called politicians lacked the capacity to even win elections in their polling units, yet sought to undermine leaders who had made tangible impacts in Ebonyi State.
“I have tarred roads passing their houses, given their family members jobs, and paid their school fees. Yet, they now make disparaging remarks. If any of them can win me in their polling unit, I will quit politics,” Ogah challenged.
The Lawmaker who is also the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Reformatory Institutions described himself as a grassroot politician, who maintains constant contact with his people.
He stated that, unlike some politicians who only operate from Abuja, he spends most of his weekends in his Constituency to attend to the needs of his supporters.
On his legislative achievements, Ogah disclosed that since assuming office in November 2019, he has secured over 1,100 federal jobs for Ebonyians in different agencies, including the Military, Police, and Paramilitary services. He also listed over 450 students he supported through university education, with some in private institutions.
He noted that he has facilitated the establishment of the National Open University study centre at the Correctional Service in Ebonyi State, arguing that such interventions would reduce crime by empowering inmates with the tool of education. “None of the inmates who passed through that centre will go back to crime,” he said.
The lawmaker further emphasized the need for human capital development, promising to push for more Ebonyians to occupy the positions of the Executive Secretary and Director-general in Federal Agencies in the Country.
He also pledged to pursue policies on irrigation, mechanized form of Agriculture, and construction of constituency hospitals, if given another mandate.
“Our Governor has carried everyone along and provided us with the necessary tools to serve. For the first time, every National Assembly member has a brand-new vehicle to reach their constituents. This has never happened before in Ebonyi State.
“I was elected by the masses, not by an individual. My commitment remains to them, and I stand ready to continue serving. Our Governor has done well and I will keep supporting him and complementing his efforts in different aspects of human endeavour, in order to move Ebonyi State forward."
The Federal Lawmaker who is battle ready to prosecute his electioneering ambition come 2027, has set machineries in motion, to ensure his electoral victory without any hitch.
