Anambra Youths Reject Chukwuma, YPP Candidate, Deputy Label Him Yahoo Politician

As the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State is fast approaching, more surprises have continued to spring up among the candidates of various political parties participating in the election.

The recent surprise came from Anambra youths under the aegis of Anambra Concerned Youth Assembly, ACYA led by Dr. Kosi Omelu during their General meeting held in Awka, Anambra State Capital.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the ACYA President, Dr. Kosi Omelu said the youths decided to take front seat in the next election to decide the fate of the suffering youths of the state, adding that they have begun pruning down and screening the candidates of various political parties to get a sizeable number of them that will contest in the election.

He said part of the criteria used in pruning down the number of candidates; involved screening of candidates' past and present lifestyles, noting that the state can not afford to have people with questionable characters to preside over the affairs of the state.

Omelu said in the cause of the screening exercise, they discovered that the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Chief Paul Chukwuma and his deputy, Uzu Okagbue have serious character defects that disqualified them from being among the candidates for consideration in the election.

"We took a wholistic analysis of the intrinsic parts of human behavior in our screening and judgement and we make bold to say that YPP candidate, Chief Paul Chukwuma and his deputy, Uzu Okagbue did not pass our integrity test and therefore, we ask them to voluntarily withdraw from the election or wait for embarrassing defeat.

"Anambra State is an elitist state and has produced the finest of Nigerian leaders, the Ziks, Ojukwus, Achebes and other notable personalities and we the youths of the state; as the leaders of tomorrow have decided that never shall we allow people with questionable character, fraudsters and yahoo yahoo guys parading themselves as politicians or candidates of YPP to deceive our people.

"Available information showed that apart from fraudulent business, Chukwuma does not have any other legitimate business except defrauding unsuspecting members of the public and swindling people. So we won't allow such a person to be governor. We also took another evaluation on his deputy, Uzu Okagbue and discovered that he too is a young man with very bad attitude also bothering on fraud.

" A man who betrayed his boss after looting the treasury of our state under his former boss, Chief Willie Obiano, he set him up and got him blackmailed into EFCC. Such a person doesn't deserve to be considered at all in any elective process.

Omelu said the youths will soon embark on sensitization programme to enlighten the electorate to be weary of the "so called Yahoo Yahoo boys masquerading as candidates of YPP in Anambra State "

He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to delist them from ballot papers as they have failed necessary integrity test and should not be allowed to stand the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
