The Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, Hon. Stephen Ebere Nwogba, JP, has expressed deep sympathy over the tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of today at Nwanwu Junction, Amachi Community, which claimed three lives and left four others injured.
Hon. Nwogba described the incident as heartbreaking and a huge loss to the community, extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Chairman swiftly mobilized security agencies, the Neighborhood Watch, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to the scene of the accident to restore calm and ensure proper emergency response.
While calling on residents to remain calm, Hon. Nwogba assured that law enforcement agencies are on ground to investigate the cause of the accident and take necessary measures to prevent future occurrences.
In his words:
"This is a sad day for the people of Amachi and the entire Abakaliki LGA. We mourn with the families who lost their loved ones and assure them that every possible step will be taken to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.”
The remains of the three deceased victims have been deposited in the morgue, while the injured are receiving medical attention.
The Chairman urged all motorists and road users to exercise extreme caution, obey traffic rules, and avoid speeding, especially in densely populated areas, to safeguard lives and property.
