Chieftain of the people's Democratic Party PDP, in Ebonyi state, Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu, has called for full scale and transparent investigation into the massacre of over ten harmless and innocent Ebonyi Indigens In Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
Chief Kevin Chukwu who is the
1st Vice Chairman, PDP Ebonyi State, condemned the act and enjoined Governor Francis Nwfuiru of Ebonyi State and Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his Anambra state counterpart to pay a joint condolence visit to families of the deseaced and wider Ebonyi community in Anambra State as such a joint appearance will go a long way in calming tensions, building confidence, and restoring a sense of protection and dignity among our people in the diaspora.
His statement reads:
"It is with deep grief and indignation that we mourn the tragic and barbaric killing of our brothers, innocent Ebonyi indigenes, who were attacked and murdered during a peaceful monthly meeting on Monday, June 30, 2025, in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
"This heinous act, which has claimed the lives of over 10 Ebonyians and left several others critically injured, is not just an attack on a group but an assault on peace, unity, and the spirit of Igbo brotherhood.
"We commend His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, for his swift and bold response in reaching out to his Anambra counterpart and relevant security agencies. His leadership in the face of this tragedy is a source of reassurance to our people.
"However, beyond official communication, it is also imperative that Governor Nwifuru personally pays a condolence visit to Anambra State and meets physically with Governor Charles Soludo, the bereaved families, and the wider Ebonyi community in Anambra. Such a joint appearance will go a long way in calming tensions, building confidence, and restoring a sense of protection and dignity among our people in the diaspora.
"The Government of Anambra State and the security agencies must ensure:
"A full-scale, transparent investigation into the killings.
"Swift identification and prosecution of those behind the massacre.
"Enhanced protection for all law-abiding residents, particularly those perceived as non-indigenes.
"The PDP condemns in the strongest terms any form of ethnic profiling, discrimination, or attacks on innocent citizens. No Nigerian deserves to live in fear, especially within his own region.
"We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded. The protection of human life must remain sacrosanct, and justice must not be delayed.
"Let this be a turning point, a moment for Igbo leaders and communities to reaffirm our unity, humanity, and shared destiny".
