Alike Ikwo Youth Forum Debunks Alleged Sponsorship to Disrupt Ikwo Youth Consultative Forum Election

The youths of Alike autonomous community under the Umbrella of Alike Ikwo Youth Forum has debunked the rumor making the round that they were being sponsored by either the Coordinator of Ikwo East Development Center, Hon. Apostle Emmanuel Mbam or any other stakeholders to disrupt any elections of Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum, INYCF. This was contained in a press release made available to Journalists at the end of the forum's meeting held recently in Abakaliki.

According to the forum, their kick against the attempt to illegally alter the Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum constitution was their civic and constitutional rights, hence the reason they wrote compliant letter to the apex Forum BoT and stakeholders of Ikwo Local Government Area. They described as baseless the false information being peddled against the association that they are being sponsored by certain stakeholders, just for asking that the right thing be done and that Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum constitution should be respected and obeyed.

The release signed by the forum President, Comrade Chinua Nwele and the Secretary, Comrade Jacob Ogodo reads in parts;

"It is important to let the members of the forum, Ikwo youths and the public know that we are law abiding legal forum who are committed to justice, welfare of our people and development of our communities.

"We also wish to state in clear terms that we are not being sponsored by anyone, group or other organizations. We are simply discharging our constitutional mandate as contained in our aims and objectives. However, due to the interventions of some stakeholders in Alike Community, we have decided as a forum to withdraw our earlier move to challenge the illegal actions of leaders of Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum in Court and also do not have any plans to disrupt their elections.

"We call on all our members to remain law abiding and committed to the forum's mission which is primarily to galvanize Alike youth for welfare and development initiatives that will impact on our members and community positively."

The forum appreciates the resilience of their members and pledged their commitment and readiness to partner with individuals, group and government at all levels to further achieve their aims and objectives in Alike Principal community.
