The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC alongside the state working committee and other stawalt of the party in Ebonyi State, on Saturday, witnessed the defection and resignation of more than seven Hundred (700), defectors drawn from People's Democratic Party (PDP), Labour, Party (LP), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the ancestral home of Ikwo, Eka- Awoke Community.
The defectors were led by the relevant stakeholders from the ward including, Prof. Afiukwa Junior Celestine, Prof. John Nnabo and other dignitaries informed the gathering their regrets and tiredness in remaining in opposition and working against the best performing governor Ebonyi State ever had.
Different speakers at the event also maintained that another major reason for dumping their different parties was based on the fact that their parties are not organized and lacks all it takes to oppose or fight the people's charter of needs mantra of the present administration in the state, while recalling how their parties lost shamefully during the election.
However, they also noted that the present administration has witnessed massive development and runs government of inclusiveness reflecting on the people’s charter of needs, hence the paramount need to join forces with the All Progressives Congress APC to bring more dividends of democracy to the people of Eka Awoke and the state in general.
Receiving the defectors, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha commended and eulogized the governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency who is also Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions and relevant stakeholders from Eka Awoke for representing the party in the area which ushered in the new members from other political parties.
"The party is happy to have a figure in the person of Chinedu Ogah. Other National Assembly members should emulate his kind of leadership. The party is with him 100% and we are very proud to identify with him"
Emegha, described Ogah as the best lawmaker having witnessed the positive gestures and salutations from his people while we were traveling to Eka Awoke. It is now I know what people say about his leadership. I understand clearly why he wins elections without opposition in Ikwo Local Government Area.
He called on other National Assembly members to imitate the footsteps of lawmaker Ogah and help him bring total transformation and good leadership to his people and Ebonyi State at large.
The defectors in their separate interview pledged their unalloyed support for Nwifuru's administration and the progress of the party. They promised to work closely with other party members to strengthen the party and attract development in the area.
The event attracted political figures, APC Working Committee members, the academia, elders, retirees and others; including the All Progressives Congress Party APC Chairman, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolutions, Dr. Donatus Ilang, State Deputy Chairman Hon. Chinedu Alphonsus Nwali, Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Sunday Onuzu, Hon. Monday Nwigbo, Hon. Friday Nwakpu, Prof. Mike Otuma, Hon. Daniel Ogiji, Chief Oliver among others.
