Ebonyi Commissioner Moves To Resolve Land Dispute In Imeabali Idda Community

The state Commissioner for Border Peace and conflict Resolution Hon Donatus Ilang has waded into a case of lingering land dispute in imeabali idda community of Abakaliki LGA.

Addressing the stakeholders from the village, Dr Ilang  noted that his ministry summons the leadership of the community following a security report on the land dispute involving some some persons in imeabali village.Dr Ilang  called on the stakeholders and leadership of the community to embrace peace and abide by the Resolution and the traditional means of settlement of  the land dispute by ndi ishiuke of Amegu  Izzi  emphasizing   that they are custodian of culture and traditions of izzi clan.                                                                                        

Speaking earlier, the Sa to the Governor on internal security Mr Sunday Ogbonna represented by Azubuike Egede said that the his office intervened following a tip off of conduct likely to cause breach of peace and refered the disputing Parties to Amegu Izzi for traditional settlement of the  land dispute. He however expressed worries on the position of some stakeholders on the matter after the resolution of Ishiuke.                                    

The cordinator of Enyida DC Hon Reuben Edeh  pleaded with the people to shun violence and conflicts and support the new administration. He commended His Excellency the Governor and the the Commissioner for prompt intervention on the matter.                             
The traditional Ruler of Idda community. HRH Eze Godwin Nwankwegu appreciated the resolution of the ministry and promised to  convene a  meeting of the villagers where by the deceisions reached in the meeting will be communicated to the villagers.                                  

Others who contributed included the village head of imeabali , Michael opoke and  Mr paulinus ijere, they maintained that the issues surrounding the land allocations and parcellation  in the village      has been resolved over two years ago by the ishiuke of Amagu Izzi and pleaded for the matter to be laid to rest.             
In a vote of thanks Mr onah John thanked the state Government and  the Commissioner for his ingenuity in resolving the dispute and promised to honour the leadership of the community.
