By Celestine Okeh, Abakaliki

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has described  the sudden demise of the immediate past Minister of science and technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, as a monumental loss to Ebonyi State in particular and Nigeria at large.

Chief Emegha, in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalist in Abakaliki, described the late Ogbonnaya Onu as a detribalised and valuable asset to Nigeria while he lived.

He prayed God to give his immediate family, the state and Nigeria, the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and grant his soul eternal rest in his kingdom.

Hear him, "It is with great shock and anguish that I received the sad news of the demise of Former Minister of Science and Technology who was a true party man and eminent son of our dear state, Ebonyi, His Excellency, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu.

"The former Minister during the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was also the first Civilian Governor in the old Abia State. Dr Onu nicknamed "Ugo" set the tune of development in the state through his numerous gigantic landmark projects.

"During the last administration of the federal government, His Excellency, Dr Onu stood as a formidable force that constantly canvassed for the unity, progress and equality of all the regions that make up the entity called Nigeria. He was detribalised and advocated justice and fair play for all. His patriotic nature reflected in every step he took while alive.

"It is unfortunate and exhausting that a symbol of peace whose dress sense was fantastically rare and heartwarming would be greatly missed especially now that his wealth of managerial skills is highly sought after by all and sundry. His Excellency, Dr Onu until his death was a national asset.

"May the all knowing God grant especially the immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and his gentle soul a peaceful repose in His bosom. Please, kindly accept my sincere condolences and  earnest prayers", he concluded..
