In order to  ensure healthy living for an effective Christian lifestyle, the Vice Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Prof. Jesse Uneke has called on Christians all over the globe to be conscious of their body and their way of life to live a healthy life and serve God effectively, stating that many Christians did not fulfill their destiny because of negligence and inability to take care of their body.

Prof. Uneke gave the advice during  the end of the year program at Assemblies of God Church, Ezza Road, Abakaliki, saying that God in His wisdom took time to create man with the extraordinary capacity to survive but the irresponsibility of some Christians landed them in health problems that scuttle their lives.

He further noted that God knows our incapacitation, weaknesses, and failures and that is why He made provision for the soundness of health for anyone who cares because you need the physical to do the spiritual work, adding that anyone who fails to take care of the body, may not be able to carry out evangelism and other social activities effectively.

He further explained that it is the wish of God for all Christians to be mindful of their body and live a healthy life as recorded in the book of 3 John 1: 2 which says: `Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.` He also urged Christians not to be overwhelmed by the pressure, anxiety, temptations, and other life-threatening challenges in society because of the negative consequences on the body ,if it is not well managed. In 1 Samuel 4: 17--18, Prof. Uneke accounted that when Eli heard that the  Ark of God was taken away, he felled from his seat and broke his head, and died because he was carried away by the problems and circumstances surrounding him, which should be avoided as a Christian.

The University don further explained that part of the terrible challenges people are facing today in the society is as a result of the end time which is written in the book of Matthew 24:6--7 and 2Timothy 3: 4--5, but God has given us power as Christians to overcome all.

Prof.Uneke, however, enjoined Christians to stay healthy by submitting to wise counsel, eating well, avoid  burden of financial crisis, sleeping well, keeping a monthly budget, stopping borrowing money, stop indulging in wasteful spending and projects they won't be able to complete and save for retirement in order to live a peaceful and healthy life.

The event featured choir ministrations, entertainment, and lectures from guest lecturers, among others.
