The Ngboejeogu Leaders Council this Saturday, during their 2023 Ngbo Day celebration, crowned the Former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency ,Barr (Chief) Eric Kelechi Igwe PhD, with a Chieftaincy title of " ENYIOHA 1 OF NGBOEJEOGU".
The honour was due to his relentless effort in brokering peace in all warring Communities in the State, including Inter State War like that of Ngbo Agila age-long land dispute. According to them, the immediate past deputy Governor, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe did all these with commitment, passion and sincerity hence, the honour by Ngboejeogu clan.
While commending the people of Ngboejeogu for the recognition and honor, the former Deputy Governor represented by the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Barr Sunday Nwankwo said that people of Ngboejeogu are known for their hardwork, sincerity, peace loving, hospitable and accommodating.
The Former Deputy Governor further reaffirmed his future engagements with the people of Ngboejeogu and his commitment for the Progress and development of Ngboejeogu clan; saying that Ngbo and Ikwo are brothers. He congratulated Ngbo Leaders Council for a successful 2023 Ngbo Day Celebration.
"I bring to you season's greetings and also Congratulate you for this year's Ngbo Day Celebration. Sincerely, I thank you for this recognition with a Chieftaincy title of 'ENYIOHA 1' of Ngboejeogu. It will further encourage me to do more and to have future engagement you.
"Ngboejeogu people are known for hardwork, honesty and accommodating. In Ebonyi State, they can't be write off in terms of politics, education, agriculture,art craft and religious affairs.
"I, therefore urge you to continue upholding those virtues you are known for which has distinguished you among others in Ebonyi State".
This year's Ngbo Day Celebration witnessed some topnotch personalities including the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru represented by the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, the Former Governor of Ebonyi State His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu Represented by Mr. Samuel Okpo, the former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe Represented by the Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Barr Sunday Nwankwo, the Principal secretary to the Governor,Chief mathias Adum, the board Chairman, Ikwo College of Education, Amb. Francis. Igwe, the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon. Uchenna Igwe among others.
Highlight of the event include; presentation of awards/Chieftaincy titles, cultural display , appreciation of First class graduates, presentation of bursary awards.
