Rep Member, NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Ebonyi

Relief materials worth millions of naira was on Saturday, distributed to  over two thousand flood victims drawn from Ikwo and Ezza South Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State.
The relief materials which includes bags of rice, beans, mattresses, garri, mats, blankets, buckets, roofing sheets, among other items was attracted to the people by the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) 
Ogah said the distribution of relief materials, across the 31 political wards and 497 polling units in the local government, was to cushion the effects of the flood on Ebonyi people.
He Commended the state Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his inclusive leadership in the state, which he said, helped in attracting the relief materials to the people.

“The masses are my strength; they are the people that elected me. They gave me the confidence; that is why anything that concerns them concerns me the most.
“I thank Mr President, Bola Tinubu; the Vice President Shettima; and the Chief of Staff to Mr President, Mr Gbajabiamila, for making this possible.
“I also thank the Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru for being considerate and allowing the National Assembly and NEMA to approve of this.
“Nwifuru is a man with a large heart, and I commend him for that,” Ogah said.
The Southeast Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, Mrs Ngozi Echeazu represented by Mr Nnaynelugo Ezeani, noted the need for continuous sensitization of the people in various communities to ensure that people are properly educated on emergency-related situations, in order to reducing the effects of the disaster.

One of the beneficiaries, a visually impaired woman, Mrs Nweke Victoria, on behalf of others, thanked the lawmaker and NEMA for coming to their aid.
Speaking to journalist after the exercise, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Barr Sunday Nwankwo commended comrade Ogah for always living up the expectation of his constituents, stressing that despite the fact that NEMA had earlier distributed relief materials to flood victims in the entire council area but the Honourable member will always goes out of his way to attract more for his constituents. 

He maintained that Government is already taking steps in addressing the menace of flood.
