Ebonyi South Senatorial Aspirant To Engage Youths In Skill Acquisition Programs

The APC Senatorial Aspirant for Ebonyi South Senatorial Seat, Comrade Marcelo Nwaji Anyigor, has vowed to stimulate the local economy by encouraging his constituents to acquire quality skills which would change them into wealth creators and employers of Labour if he emerges as their legislator in the 10th Senate.

It could be recalled that the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat has been vacant since the appointment of Senator David Umahi as the Minister of Works by President Bola Tinubu. Some personalities from the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone including Comrade Anyigor have been expressing interest in occupying the vacant seat in the Senate.

Interacting with journalists during the weekend, Anyigor emphasized the need to encourage self-employment and wealth creation, especially among the economically deprived individuals or groups in the country, particularly in his senatorial district.

Anyigor, who is currently the South East Director of Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation, AGF Project Beyond 2023 further expressed his enthusiasm to embark on an aggressive campaign for self-reliant investment in quality skills acquisition and entrepreneurial development programs, saying the drive stands a better chance to boost the local economy in the country.

He assured of partnering with relevant service providers and successful professionals within his Senatorial district to engage his constituents in self-reliant training.

He said: "I will invest massively in the training of our jobless graduates, young school leavers, married women and widows as well as artisans, to ensure that they can acquire quality skills and learn some vocations that are capable of not only putting food on their table, but such that will enable them to contribute to the local economy within Ebonyi State.

"Some of the skills and vocations that I intend to encourage training for my constituents are welding, tailoring, and hairdressing, painting and paint production, furniture work, manicure and pedicure, aluminium work, electrical and electronic installation and repairs, catering and hospitality management, decoration, shoe making, soap making and so on.

"Acquisition of skills by our youths would help to stem youth restiveness and insecurity in our society. It will also promote poverty reduction and the raising of the standards of living among our people. To achieve this, I intend to partner with relevant service providers and successful professionals within our district to engage the people in training."
