Tribunal Victory: APC Awaits INEC's Directives On Bye Election In Ebonyi South

Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed joy over the judgement of the election petition tribunal which affirmed that it won Ebonyi South Senatorial District during the 25th February, 2023 National Assembly elections.

Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha made the expression while interacting with newsmen in Abakaliki after the three man tribunal unanimously ruled against the petitioner and candidate of the Labour Party, Linus Okorie.

The APC chairman opined;
"APC has always been on ground in Ebonyi State and this victory will trickle down to the remaining tribunal cases. Ebonyi people love APC because it is civil in approach and excellent in performance. The judiciary has just corroborated once again the will of the people. Truly, the court is the hope of the common man.

"As it stands, that position is vacant because our former Governor, His Excellency, Senator Engr David Umahi who previously occupied the seat is currently serving the nation in another capacity as a Minister in charge Works. The party will earnestly be waiting for the electoral umpire, that is, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to possibly declare the seat vacant.

"Once INEC gives directive, there will be full consultation with principal characters of the party led by His Excellency, the Governor, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, so that due process will be followed in conducting a transparent and credible primary, in preparation for the general election in the zone, to fill in the vacant position.

"Just know that we are ready to retain the vacant position at the red chamber because it belongs to us. Conduct the election a million times, APC will always cruise to victory because of its wide acceptability. Laid down rules will be strictly followed to elect who will be the standard bearer of our party in the general election in the zone. Congratulations to us, once more".
