Ikwo Council Boss Pledges Support For War Against Human Trafficking In Ebonyi

The Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon. Barr Sunday Nwankwo has Commended the mother of state, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Mary Maudlin Uzoamaka Nwifuru for her onourous war against human trafficking and other related ills in the state, pledging his total commitment to join forces in the fight against the ugly menace in the state.

The council Boss disclosed this on Friday, when he paid a visit to a victim of trafficking,19year-old Miss Favour Onwe, from Item Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area, of the State, rescued by a good Samaritan in libya, North Africa.

Miss Favour Onwe was diagnosed of Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) and admitted at the National Obstetric fistula Centre, Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Barr Nwankwo frowned at the way Youths of nowadays, especially, girls migrate to other Countries in the search for Greener pastures where they are  subjected to the various illegal businesses. He vowed to report  the matter to the Mother of the State,Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Uzoamaka Mary- Maudline Nwifuru for further action. 
The Chairman charged the Hospital management to prepare Miss Favour Onwe's hospital bill and report back for appropriate assistance. 

"This is unfortunate. We will  continue to support the efforts of the Mother of the State,  Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Uzomaka Mary-Maudline Nwifuru in the  campaign against Child  Trafficking. It is a societal malaise that needs to be tackled headlong. 

"Let me also thank the Hospital management for your effort so far.  Please, don't give up", he concluded.
