Professional Body Bestows Award Of Excellence On Ebonyi Gov's Wife

In recognition of her humanitarian services to the state which have affected the lives of the women and children of Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru has been given an Award of Humility by the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals, Ebonyi State Chapter and Ebonyi state university.

The ceremony took place at the ICT Auditorium of Ebonyi State University Permanent site, during the Lecture series organized by the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals, Ebonyi State Chapter, with the theme "Curbing online fake news in Nigeria".

Mrs. Nwifuru speaking on the theme of the lecture commended the organizers of the event and stated that it is important to eradicate fake news and information in our society in other to reduce the effect of fake online news. She further called for collaboration between Academia and the government in the eradication of fake news.

“I commend this Association for organizing this workshop, which is very educative and commendable. Your choice of topic: “Curbing Online Fake News in Nigeria”, is timely considering the destructive nature of fake news in society”. 

“I would like to call for collaboration between the government and the academia, in the fight against fake news in Ebonyi State, to ensure that will project the state in a good way to the society”.
The first lady of Ebonyi State expressed joy being in the midst of distinguished professors and lecturers who thought and commended them for their work in the university. She appreciated the Association and the University for the Honor done to her and expresses her readiness to work with them. She also used the occasion to call on all dignitaries, lecturers, and students to join the fight against Gender-based violence. She urged them to advocate in their various communities to ensure that we stop the ugly act in Ebonyi state.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the acting Vice Chancellor Prof Eugene Nweke, and the president of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals (ASCPN), Ebonyi State Chapter, Prof Ifeyinwa Nsude expressed gratitude to the First Lady of Ebonyi State for coming for the important event and being a good alumna of the institutions.
