Ebonyi First Lady Pledges Support For Skill Acquisition Program In Ebonyi

Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary-Mudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru says any initiative geared towards empowering people for self reliant should be encouraged by all.

Mrs Nwifuru stated this at the end of a three day Skill Acquisition Training Program at Nkwoagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki.

The three day Skill acquisition training program which has officers and Soldiers wives as participants was sponsored by the Nkwoagu Military Cantonment in conjunction with the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike

Wife of the Governor who was represented at the occasion by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Theresa Nwamkpuma appreciated the Nkwoagu Cantonment and Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike for the empowerment initiative.

Mrs Nwifuru said she was more excited that women are major beneficiaries of the program, but enjoined the participants to ensure they use the knowledge gained during the training to establish themselves for the purposes of assisting their families and touching other lives.

The Governor's wife who observed that entrepreneurship demands courage and resilience to succeed, advised the women not to give up as a result of challenges that may occur on the course of starting the trade, but to show determination and bring innovation to their line of trade.

The Commander, Nkwoagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki, Lt. Col. Sunday Atomede and the Vice Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Prof Sunday Elom, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof Abel Ezeoha said the program was a joint social responsibility project aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship among officers and Soldiers' wives.

According to them, that was the second time they have organized such program at the Cantonment, adding that it would be sustained.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Stella Maris Ugbo thanked the organizers and promised to utilize the knowledge gained during the training in the interest of their families and the society.

Highpoint was presentation of certificates to participants by wife of the Governor.

The event was attended by the Branch Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Daniel Ogbuogu and the Branch Controller, Bank of Industry, Mr Chukwudi Asiegbu among others.
