Ebonyi APC have expressed great anger over the gruesome murder of Chairman, Ezza Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty Eze Igboke Ewa, by those he described as the thuggs of opposition.
In a statement from the state publicity secretary of the party in the state, Ogbuatu Chidi, accused the Governship Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, Prof Ben Odoh of Mastermind.
His statement reads: "The State Working Committee of the APC Ebonyi State has received with rude shock the gruesome murder of the Chairman, Ezza Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty Eze Igboke Ewa in the evening of Monday, 27th February, 2023 by Odoh, the APGA gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State as his murderous terrorist gang. Imagine the extent Odoh could go because of politics even when he knows he won't be the Governor of Ebonyi State even if he contested the position 100 times.
"What was the offence of His Majesty Eze Igboke? He joined others to celebrate the victory of the APC in the three Senatorial Zones of Ebonyi State in the last election. That was all. Must Odoh kill even his own traditional ruler because of his bitterness and hate for Governor Umahi? It's preposterous to say the least. This is hate and bitterness taken too far. Odoh and his opposition cohorts must account for the innocent blood of Ebonyians they have been shedding in the State.
"It's on record that Odoh has never hidden his animosity and acrimonious propensities in anything that concerns Governor Umahi; the same Governor that showed him love by bringing him from an opposition party and making him the SSG of Ebonyi State; a magnanimity Odoh showed so much ingratitude by betraying his master because of his own vaulting ambition to become Governor that he will never become even in his next generation.
"Hasn't Odoh done enough to prove to the world that he has pathological hate for Governor Umahi? Why would he go to the extreme to shed innocent blood of his own traditional ruler as a further proof? Sacrilege, abomination, taboo; Odoh and his murderous terrorist gang have murdered sleep and they should sleep no more.
"Going forward, we hereby call on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Ebonyi State, the DSS and indeed all security agencies to swing into action and pick the culprits wherever they may be. Enough of these killings by opposition elements in Ebonyi State whilst they shift culpability to Governor Umahi and Ebonyi State Government. Time has come for Ebonyians to know the real people killing them. This one has exposed Odoh and his group as murderers of the people.
"We therefore reiterate that the Ebonyi State Government has unwavering confidence in the IGP, CP, Ebonyi State, the DSS and indeed the entire national security architecture to deal with this murderous scenario squarely. Odoh and his murderous gang must be arrested, interrogated and prosecuted for first degree murder without further delay.
"While we condole with the family of His Majesty Eze Igboke, we urge all Ebonyians, particularly the good people of Ezza North LGA to go about their legitimate business with the assurances that the Ebonyi State Government and security agencies will not allow the killers of their traditional ruler to go unpunished".
