Ahead of the forthcoming election and to seek the mandate of the Students, the APC Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on Thursday, had interactive session with the Students of Ebonyi State origin at Rachel Umahi Theatre, International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, to interface and interact with him.
In his welcome address, the SUG President of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki Comr Nwokporo Desmond who spoke on behalf of the forum of SUG Presidents, appreciated Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna for the support given to some indigent Students in the State and other gesture done to Students. And wen further to outline what he described as the pressing needs of Students that need to be tackled which includes;
a. Provision of Buses to facilitate the movement of Students to lecture
b. Provision of Hostels in various Institutions to mitigate the challenges facing in payment of house rent.
c. Asisting in ensuring that SUG Presidents has autonomous powers to function effectively;
d. Provision of Lights in various Institutions and concrete roads in the internal roads of the various Institutions, etc.
On his part, the Coordinator, NANS Zone F, Comr Ibeabuchi Moses (IBB) appealed to Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to look into some pressing needs of the Students as captured in his manifesto and advised the Students to throw weight behind him considering his support to the Student thus far.
The Director General, Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Chief Deacon Austin Umahi while addressing the Students, extolled them for attending the Interactive session. He urged them to vote for Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for Governor of Ebonyi as a sign of appreciation for the people of Izzi for their contribution and sacrifice in the State. And to maintain the existing power rotation which would enhance peaceful coexistence, noting that he is experienced and qualified to Govern the State unlike other neophytes who never occupied political position but want to thwart the existing arrangement in the State. He advised them not to fall to the antics of those who thought that Ebonyi is for sale and expressed dismay on how some individuals whom he berated as seasonal politicians want to sabotage the zoning in arrangement.
Reacting, the APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who's the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, commended Gov Umahi for the developmental strides in the State which has made those who gloat at Abakaliki people to be admiring the State. He expressed his preparedness in prioritizing the interest of the Students if elected as the Governor of the State. Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru noted that he belong to Students Community and as such, regard it as his own Constituency. While highlighting what he would do if elected, he promised to offer automatic employment to any Student who graduate with 1st class, grant overseas Scholarship to those who made 2:1, passionately revamp Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, his alma mater, Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo and move the Faculty of Engineering located at Ugwuachara to Perm-Site with modern house, offer Scholarship to indigents and intelligent Students of Ebonyi State as he has been doing as the Speaker among other things.
In his closing remark, the Coordinator, Divine Mandate Students Campaign Council Comr Okoro Joshua Offor Majesty who doubles as the Chairman NANS Stakeholders Ebonyi State applauded the students and their leaders, especially the NANS Zone F Coordinator for attending the Interactive session irrespective of the hurdles occasioned by the scarcity of currency. He noted that in the Student community, the paramount interest is Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who belongs to Students community and proven his love for the Students. And emphasized that the project's scattered in the State is a byproduct of legislation which Nwifuru is spearheads. He lauded the Guber candidate for promising to build State functional Teaching hospital and Aeronautical University which he said would offer Students and graduates opportunity to secure job upon graduation. And advised the Students to vote for him and other APC Candidates in the forthcoming elections to consolidate on the achievements of the present Government anchored on Divine Mandate.
The Interactive session was well attended by students from various Institutions in the Students, SUG Presidents, Zonal Presidents, LG Presidents and stakeholders in Students community.
Highlights of the Interactive includes; questions from three representative of Students in the 3 Senatorial Zones; namely: Comr Ituma Kelvin, Ebonyi North, Comr Ekechi Joebliss Nnamdi of Ebonyi Central and Comr Okorie Caleb of Ebonyi South with positive response and Aluta.
