Afikpo North Council Chair Awards Scholarship To Indigent Students

The Council Boss of Afikpo North LGA, Hon. Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam has stated his readiness to sponsor extramural lessons for national exam classes among other things in Afikpo North Local Government Area.

The Council Chairman communicated this when he received in audience the Principal of Government Secondary School, Afikpo; Mr. Ogbonnia Nwachi who led some of his staff on a courtesy visit to the council Boss on Tuesday, 22nd November, 2022 at the LGA Secretariat.

Speaking on his readiness for the sponsorship, the Executive Chairman implored Hon. Nwachi to put up a proposal to that effect and forward same to his office for approval.

Accepting to draw up the proposal, Mr. Nwachi thanked the Executive Chairman for his contributions to education which he described as a veritable key to sustainable success in nation-building. While congratulating Hon. Ibiam on his well deserved victory as Secretary of ALGON, Ebonyi State in the just concluded election of the body, he appealed to the Council Boss to consider posting more health workers to the school Sickbay (Clinic) for prompt and effective attendance to the health needs of students of his school.

While granting the passionate appeal of Mr. Nwachi, the Executive Chairman assured him that he will commence the execution of more projects in schools in the LGA after the 2023 general elections. He reiterated his appreciation for teachers in the Council Area for their commitment in moulding the character and reshaping the personality of students under them to become better and useful to the society at large. He further described teachers so glowingly as the greatest contributors to nation-building and as bedrock for sustainable millennium development goals.

In a vote of thanks, the Vice Principal Special- Duties of GSSA; Mr. Clement Onyeka Chukwuemeka lauded the Executive Chairman for his good works and prayed God to guide and protect him as he pilots the affairs of Afikpo North Local Government Area

The highpoint of the visit was the Executive Chairman's announcement of the appointment of one  Miss Peace Oko, an SS3 Student of Amuro/Mgbom Community Secondary School, Afikpo as one of  his aides with N30,000 monthly upkeep and award of scholarship to her. Miss Peace Oko who is an indigent Student, hails from Ugwuegu Ward in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
