The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi State, Arc Dr Edward Nkwegu on Thursday received the blessings of the Supreme Council of the Izhi Nnodo Traditional Institution, after presenting his certificate of return to the council.

Ebonyi Times news gathered that one receiving the blessings of Ishiuke in the Izhi Nnodo clan should be considered the highest and most effective in the life of the beneficiary.

While giving the symbolic sacrifice to Dr Nkwegu who was accompanied by some candidates of the Labour Party at Anmegu, the Izhi ancestral home in Abakaliki, the Traditional Prime Minister of Izhi land, His Royal Majesty Elder Mbam Ngele, said, nothing would truncate the efforts of an Izhi man who is peaceful, humble and sincere from becoming the governor of Ebonyi State in 2023.

Earlier, an Ishiuke in Ebia Unuphu, Elder Okpoko Alieze described Dr Nkwegu as a mature, experienced and valuable governorship candidate who has a lot to offer to the Ebonyi people.

He further stated that nothing would stop Nkwegu from accomplishing his gubernatorial ambition in 2023.

Speaking shortly after receiving the blessings from Ishiuke, Dr Edward Nkwegu promised to embark on an economic revolution through industrialization, to create wealth and job opportunities for Ebonyi people in the state, if allowed to be their governor in 2023.

Dr Nkwegu promised to introduce modernized agriculture, provide quality education and drive a human-valued infrastructural development to every corner of the state.

He maintained that there would be massive employment and empowerment under his watch if he emerges as the governor of the state in 2023.

Different speakers at the event including the Ebonyi North Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Hon. Anselm Enigwe, the party's Candidate for Abakaliki/IIzziFederal Constituency, Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, and many others called on Ebonyi people to continue to support the governorship ambition of Edward Nkwegu for good governance in the state.

They equally urged them for their massive support for all the Labour Party candidates in the state, stressing that the next year's election is a revolutionary movement to change the ugly narratives of Nigerians through Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
