Ebonyi LP Guber-ticket Not in Dispute, Group Chides Party Chieftain

A socio-political organisation known as Ebonyi for Better Leadership 2023 on Wednesday lambasted an embattled Chieftain of the Labour Party, Mr Splendour Eze over his claim of being the authentic chairman and gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state.

The group while condemning the embattled Labour Party Chieftain's allegations, which he levelled against the Labour Party leadership and its gubernatorial candidate, Dr Edward Nkwegu, said, "Splendour Eze is still parading nude," over the controversy already stabilized.

According to the group's spokesperson, Dr Simon Eleri, "it is certain that Splendour Eze is not the governorship candidate of Ebonyi State for the 2023 general elections."

He said, "Splendour Eze was a former acting Chairman of the Labour Party in Ebonyi, and his tenure has elapsed for three months ago, which resulted in the emergence of Godwin Jioke as the Chairman of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State."

He wondered why Splendour Eze had allegedly continued to parade himself as the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, working against the party's widely decision on the position to his peril.

"How can somebody who claims to be a party leader will continue to destroy his house, even to his peril just because of his selfish aggrandisement?

"Splendour Eze was a former acting chairman of the Labour Party because his tenure has elapsed, his present utterances are a true interpretation of a frustrated and deceptive man. "

Dr Eleri maintained that Dr Edward Nkwegu remains the authentic gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party in Ebonyi, saying Splendour Eze's allegation that Nkwegu bribed him off through the national leadership of the party was not only baseless but a complete falsehood and unfounded allegation.

"Splendour Eze's allegation, that our widely accepted gubernatorial candidate, Sir Dr Edward Nkwegu bribed him off through the national chairman of Labour Party to snatch his mandate with a woof sum of N200,000,000, is not only baseless, but the highest falsehood and it remains unfounded. This claim by Splendour Eze is a total defamatory act which he can never prove in any law court."

The group said "the authenticity of Edward Nkwegu as the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate is not in dispute," recalling that the said, "Nkwegu had been issued a Certificate of Return by the party leadership."

The group described Nkwegu as the most credible and best satisfactory candidate among other governorship contestants in Ebonyi State for the 2023 polls.

He upheld that "Splendour Eze parading himself as the authentic Chairman and the gubernatorial candidate is an eyesore to both the Labour Party members in the state and at the national level.

"We, the members of the Ebonyi for Better Leadership 2023, an umbrella body comprising the elders and young individuals championing quality administration in the next political dispensation in the state cannot allow an obvious fraudulent agent to tarnish the image of our choice candidate and other reputable leaders of the labour party in our dear state.

"Splendour Eze has been widely known for this crooked esprit, on the yearly basis, he would go to one party to claim to be a gubernatorial candidate just to accomplish his pernicious inclination through sham middles. Video clips and other evidence of Eze's anti-party activities are everywhere," the spokesman of the group asserted.

The group warned Splendour Eze against defrauding innocent people, especially those from the Izhi clan in Ebonyi in the name of ceding the gubernatorial ticket to them, as the party has made the right choice on the gubernatorial position.

The group also urged the general public to disregard Eze's allegations against the State Labour Party governorship Candidate, Dr Edward Nkwegu and the National leadership party.
