There was overflow of joy and celebration at Afikpo on Friday, 22nd July 2022 as the former Co-ordinator of Ubeyi Development Centre,Hon. Uche Nnajiofor Ibiam(UCHMAN) emerged the Standard-bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC for Chairmanship position in Afikpo North Local Government Area.
The APC Chairmanship Primaries was held at the Local Government Headquarters, Afikpo.
Hon. Uche Ibiam who polled 60 votes during the primaries was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Hon. Chief Sunday Inyima.
In his remarks, Hon. Ibiam appreciated the stakeholders for the support he is enjoying from them and promised to run an all inclusive government.
He also took time to appreciate His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, for making it possible and promised to step down the programmes and Policies of the State Government at the grassroots.
Some of the Stakeholders who spoke including Deputy Speaker,Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogbonnia Ikoro; DG,Ebbc,Engr. Timothy Nwachi; Member III, SEB, Chief Donatus Ezeogo Aja; Coordinator of Afikpo North DC,Hon. Ibiam Inya Agha and Former Commissioner for Business Development and APC House of Assembly Candidate,Chief Ukie Oluchukwu Ezeali all commended the delegates for making the right choice through their votes and assured the people of Afikpo North Local Government Area that Hon. Uche Ibiam when elected as Chairman of the Council will initiate actions, activities, Policies and programmes that will lift the Local Government Area to an enviable height.
Sixty delegates(5 per Ward) participated in the exercise.
