Gov Obaseki Assures Of Free, Fair, Credible Council Polls In Edo

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has assured Edo people that the forth coming Local Government  election in the state will be free, fair and credible. pledgeding  to work with the electoral body and all other relevant stakeholders to ensure that credible polls is achieved in the state.

He gave the assurance when he received the executive members of the Edo State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) who paid him courtesy visit in his office at the Government House, Benin City.

The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha who while addressing them said "the country is in tough and perilous times, thereby charging officials on the need to be responsible and accountable to their  people.

He noted, "the local government elections that is fast  approaching, we need to sit and brainstorm on how to ensure that the election is free, fair and credible. I appeal to all of  you to  sit with the  State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) and  discuss on the ways and processes to ensure to achieve success during  The Election  come April 19th, 2022.”

 “We are going through perilous times as a nation, our people are  scared as we are being attacked  the roads, rails, and on air. which a great cause for people to be in  worry. And We shouldn’t be irresponsible as politicians.

"I urge all of  to play your part by sensitizing our people on sustaining our democracy, which was well-earned and not gotten on a platter of gold. Our people sacrificed their lives for us to get to where we are today. We must cherish what we have in Nigeria by ensuring the sustenance of our democracy.”

The Governor  further hailed IPAC on their sustained partnership with the State   government in ensuring  delivery of a through  dividend of democracy to the people of Edo State.

 Added, “Our administration has suffered various oppressions moving from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and we have overcome our oppressors. We thank you for your courage as we assure you of this administration’s open-door policy.”

On his part, the Chairman of IPAC Edo State ,  Hon. Omorogbe Joseph,who  commended  efforts of the State  government, in  improving the livelihoods of the  citizenry  said, “As a body, we will  support the government efforts in delivering  the dividends of democracy to the people from  the grassroot  and bringood governance to the people.”
