Sacking Of Gov Umahi; A Big Joke - Ebonyi APC Chairman

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State Chapter, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has described the Tuesday ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja delivered by His Lordship, Justice Inyang Ekwo which sacked the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi and his Deputy, Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe as well as some members of the State House of Assembly for defecting from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a big joke which cannot stand the test of time.

Emegha noted with chargrin that the same court ironically justified the defection of the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Bello Matawalle from PDP to APC which the court described as his inalienable constitutional rights and wondered why the case of Gov. Umahi of Ebonyi should be treated differently.

Emegha expressed satisfaction that Gov. Umahi who is the leader of APC in the state has already condemned in its entirety the judgement as travesty of Justice, noting that the court verdict was not in any way based on legal precincts known to law as processes for removal of an incumbent Governor which according to him includes death, resignation or impeachment. He therefore, called on APC members and the general public not to panic over the deliberate act of distraction since the matter was perfectly under control.

Emegha queried why Ebonyi PDP was wasting much energy making mountain out of a mold hill over Gov. Umahi's defection whereas the same party shamelessly celebrated with fanfare the defection of the Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom and the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki from APC to PDP - a development which PDP at the time considered was a boost to the party.

The Ebonyi APC Chairman then reiterated his appeal to party loyalists to remain calm and calculated as the leadership of the party was doing everything humanly possible to redress the injustice.
