To get nationwide support for the Presidential aspiration of Governor David Umahi ahead of 2023, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Environment, Grants and Donor Agencies, Dr. Richard Nnabu on Monday met 36 States and 774 Local Government Coordinators.
This is coming barely 24 hours he buried his elder sister, Ms. Juliana Nnabu in Ameka, Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.
Addressing members under the aegis of UMAHI 2023 FRONTIERSMEN, Dr. Nnabu who is founder and Convener, explained that Governor Umahi who has performed above expectation in governance needs the collective supports of all Nigerians to take the nation to its desired destination—a feat, he said, has been accomplished in Ebonyi State under the Governor Umahi administration.
He said his meeting with members is to ensure mass mobilisation of support for the Umahi presidency which is why he had to assemble galaxy of Think Tanks to drive the process from all the 36 States and 774 Local Government Area of Nigeria.
"Believing that such huge, albeit inspired
ambition needs geopolitical spread, members of this group are drawn from the 36 States of the Federation including the FCT.
"This is informed by the desire to get the six geopolitical zones covered in other to step down our political mobilisation down to the ward level in all states of the federation" he said.
He further charged members on the need to deploy their tentacles as men and women with proven track record to assist in the actualisation of the mandate.
"Your membership in the group is not by happenstance, but predicated on your antecedents both in private, corporate life and a proven capacity in the political mobilisation processes especially in your various states of residence".
The Commissioner believes with Governor Umahi as the president, Nigeria's leadership malaise will be addressed.
"Paraphrasing the words of Africa's foremost literary giant— Professor Chinua Achebe, the Nigerian State is plagued by leadership malaise—thus making it urgent for all us as Nigerians to look for a leader with the capacity, values, moral rectitude and development knack to lead the country to its desired destination".
While presenting the credentials of the Ebonyi leader, Dr. Nnabu argued:
"It may interest you to know Engr. David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State is the right man for the job.
"Within the last six years, Governor Umahi has designed and built over 13 flyovers, constructed over 250 kilometers of roads all on concrete of 9 inches above earth level, built and equipped a world class medical university—first of its kind in the entire West African subregion!
"Within the time under reference, he has also built a world's largest Christian Ecumenical Centre and an international Shopping Mall, an edifice patterned after the Dragon Mall in Dubai, UAE. He is equally constructing an international airport with concrete runway, the only one of its kind, and an olympic stadium
"Governor Umahi's messianic intervention in the infrastructural history of Ebonyi are in-exhaustive even as it is nationally needed".
"To address the infrastructural deficits in Nigeria— roads, bridges, across the length and breadth of Nigeria, we are expected as various actors in the Nigerian project, to canvass, support and mobilize for the emergence of Governor David Umahi as the president of Nigeria in 2023.
"The choice of selecting Governor Umahi is the best choice we can offer this generation.
"It is a choice that will end bad roads, collapsed infrastructures, epileptic power supply, energy crises and deliver good governance to Nigeria.
"The time build a greater and better Nigeria is now.
"Therefore, you are requested to think Umahi, pray for Umahi, preach Umahi and discuss Umahi for the president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2023".
