The Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security, Hon. Eze Ikechukwu Panchris (POWER), have revealed that the South East Security outfit 'Ebubeagu' have done well in assisting other security agencies in stabilizing the security of life and property of Ebonyi residents. He stressed that politicians calling for scraping of Ebubeagu are the secret Spornsors of the violent IPOB group and the killings by the unknown Gunmen in different parts of the state and South East.
Eze Ikechukwu Panchris while addressing Newsmen in Abakaiki, Ebonyi state capital, in response to the motion for disbandment of Ebubeagu by the PDP caucus of the House of Representatives, reminded them that Ebubeagu is a creation of the law and it's operational and rules of engagement are well spelt out and are strictly adhered to. He further stated that Ebubeagu Operatives are adequately trained by the right authority in the different areas of security, such as intelligence gathering, crime detection, firearms handling, among others.
Eze wondered why the Abuja based politicians who hardly visit the state except during campaign period, choose to play Politics with the security of life and property of Ebonyi people.
The Special Assistant to the Governor emphasized that Governor David Umahi has sacrificed much in ensuring an enduring peace in the state and warned those Lawmakers who derive Joy in causing coarse in the state to refrain from such unholy act.
He assured the residents and good people of Ebonyi State of a firm readiness of Ebubeagu in carrying out their legitimate and constitutional responsibility of securing lives and property of Ebonyi residents without fear of intimidation.
Eze Ikechukwu Panchris revealed that Ebubeagu Operatives has been able to quel the security situation in the state since inception, noting that Ebubeagu have recovered and returned to the owners, over 15 tricycles, 23 motorcycles and other house hold items.
He added that they have been able to decimate criminal elements in their various flash points in the state, which is the reason for the relative peace enjoyed in the state today
He urged the lawmakers to expend greater energy in making laws and moving motions that will make positive impact on the lives of their Constituency other than placing their Political interest above the welfare, well-being and interest of the people they swore to represent.
