Ebonyi State Govt Flags Off Adult Education, Mass Literacy Program In Ikwo

Ebonyi State Government on Saturday, flagged off the second phase of Adult Education and Mass Literacy Program in Enyibichiri and Noyo Alike Communities in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.

The second phase of the program was solely sponsored in the Area by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on legal services and conflicts resolution, Barr. Emeka Nwode.

Barr. Nwode, who is from the Area, stated that the gesture was to contribute his ‘widow’s might' to the Educational policy of Governor Umahi’s administration in ensuring that his people, especially the aged and the school drop out who can no longer go to the regular School, have access to basic Education.

He encouraged them to come out and get registered for the program as study and writing materials and every other thing has been put in peace for take off and sustenance of the program, noting that he will ensure regular payment of the teachers monthly salaries.

He called for commitment and dedication to the program assuring them that the program have come to stay in the Area and his readiness to open more centers that will be closer to them when the need arises.

Flagging of the program, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Adult Education and Mass Literacy Program, Barr. Stella Nwagu, urged the people to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their Educational background, stressing that most people have obtained their Junior and senior school certificate and have even proceeded to the higher institutions through the program.

She reiterated that there is no age limit for Education as the program is open for both young and old who has no opportunity for formal Education.

Barr. Nwagu said that Enyibichiri is the first community to benefit from the second phase of the program and appreciate her Senior colleague, Barr. Emeka Nwode for sponsoring the program in the Area and urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by turning out in mass to embrace the program.

She enjoined other stakeholders in the Area to join force with Barr. Nwode to ensure sustenance of the program, noting that Education is the best empowerment and investment you can give to the people.

The flag off ceremony which take place at Community Central School Idembia Enyibichiri and Noyo Community town hall had in attendance stakeholders and leader of both Communities, which included Chief Livinus Ilang, Chairman/CEO Ilang Ventures, Hon. Emmanuel Ekuma, coordinator Ikwo East Development Center, Hon. Christopher Nwokora, Chief Accountant to the state Deputy Governor, Mr Peter Okey, former member, secondary Education Board among others, Commended the state Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi for prioritizing Education and infrastructural development in State.

They poured encomium on the sponsor of the program, Barr Emeka Nwode, who is currently, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on legal services and conflicts resolution, for complementing the Educational policy of the Governor through investment in the Education of the people, urging the beneficiaries to take the program seriously as it will help them fit properly into the society.

Highlights of the event were distribution of writing materials, face mask, sanitary pads to women and cultural display by Ikpobina cultural dance of Ndiechi Enyibichiri.
