Deputy Governor of Ebonyi state, His Excellency, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe has called on Revenue  Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to urgently review the current revenue formula to allocate more funds  to States and Local Government Councils. This he said will fast track development in the country.

He made the call when he received officials of the commission led by Barr. Patrick Mgbebu at the Government House, Abakaliki.

The Deputy Governor who represented State Governor, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi at the visit, said such review will reflect  justice and equity the nation is known for.

"Nigeria has 36 States and each State is an integral part of the nation, it is a nation built on equity, trust and justice and we believe that it has not reflected in the current revenue sharing formula".

He said States have been shouldering the burden of confronting the current security challenges in the country,  therefore required more resources to succeed in the task. He therefore, urged the commission to ensure that opinions of Ebonyi people reflect on the national dialogue.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation Barr. Patrick Mgbebu said they are the State for sensitisation on topical issue of review of existing vertical allocation formula that has been  operational for a long time.

Barr Mgbebu who is the member representing Ebonyi in the Commission said the commission has the constitutional mandate of reviewing revenue allocation formula to conform with changing realities.

"In view of the changing socio-economic dynamics of the nation, the commission has been prompted  to commence  full scale engagement of representatives of various stakeholders to fashion a  new allocation formula " . He said.
