"Ebonyi youths will no longer allow fake news against Gov. Umahi" - Akpuenika

The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Charles Akpuenika has said that youths in the state would no longer allow fake news to be dished out against Governor David Umahi.

Akpuenika made the declaration in Abakaliki while reacting to a petition filed against the governor to the national leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by one Chijioke Uwa.

The commissioner said that considering the governor’s numerous infrastructural strides and life-changing programmes for the people, the youths would no longer allow his integrity to be eroded.

“The youths, especially those of the APC, are angry with Uwa’s petition against the governor because he (Uwa) had long been known as a trouble shooter and unstable person.

“The governor had always convened meetings of the party since he joined it from the PDP to discuss matters and allowed stakeholders to freely air their views before critical decisions are taken,”.

The commissioner said that the governor has always ensured no disparity between old and new members of the party, therefore allegations of marginalisation of old APC members from him was unfounding.

“We are therefore asking Uwa how many new members he had converted to the APC and it is on record and factual that he is presently working for the PDP.

“Uwa should instead, be grateful to the governor for his numerous infrastructural strides in Ohaukwu (Uwa’s LGA) such as the ultra-modern flyover at Ezzamgbo junction of the Abakaliki-Enugu road.

“This is a junction which had claimed several lives in the past through road accidents and the governor also reconstructed the Ezzamgbo-Effium road which hitherto was in a deplorable condition,”.

He urged the party’s national leadership and other stakeholders to disregard Uwa’s petition because he belonged to the class of members who cannot win a single vote in their electoral wards.

“Stakeholders from Ohaukwu LGA have greatly benefited from the present administration in the state including the immediate past state party Chairman, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu who is presently a commissioner.

“We thereby assure the governor of the total support of party faithful in the state as he continues his task of repositioning Ebonyi for greatness,”.

Akpuenika said that the youths would always stand against fake news on the governor and good governance in the state to prevent a situation where the people would be misled.

“We urge the party’s national leadership to immediately suspend Uwa and also urge relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to check fake news and its propagators.
