Ebonyi Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Orji Uche Orji says Governor David Umahi's led administration is committed to women empowerment and gender maintreaming in the state.
He stated this when the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Ebonyi State Chapter paid him a courtesy call.
The Information Commissioner described women empowerment and gender maintreaming as a highpoint in the policy thrust of the administration of Governor David Umahi.
Orji assured the women Journalists of the continued involvement of women in Umahi's administration, pointing that female folks were instrumental to the success records and developmental strides of the present state government.
He thanked them for keeping faith with the tenets of their profession as journalists and for using their pen positively to highlight the uniqueness and the wonders of the administration of the Governor in the last 6 years.
Orji reiterated the commitment of the Umahi administration in women empowerment and affirmative action, stressing that the Governor has given meaning to the lives of Ebonyi women through several life-changing women empowerment Programmes, including the empowerment programmes of the founder and initiator of Family Soccour and Upliftment Foundation of the Governor's wife, Chief Mrs Rachel Umahi.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Women Journalists in the State, Nkechinyere Oginyi, extolled the empowerment initiatives of state govenor, describing him as a divine vessel of honour for the emancipation of the Women from undignifying social conditions and degrading economic status.
Oginyi assured the Information Commissioner of the commitment of the female journalists in Ebonyi State in the propagation of the excellent hallmarks of the adminstration of Governor Umahi through positive reportage of events.
