The Umahi's Labour Aide had earlier during the meeting called on the state MDAs to commence a build up of computer database of all documents in preparation for setting up of ICT units in their respective offices.

She advised them to create websites for their ministries in readiness for full migration from analogue to e-governance for global projection of the good works of this administration in all the MDAs, and for better documentation and safer keeping of documents and records in line with the global best practices.

She said that the database when created, should include electronic versions of staff nominal roll, incoming mails, outgoing mails, approvals, records of projects by the State Governor, Engr David Umahi, in their various MDAs, employment and death/retirement details of staff to help close loopholes and checkmate sharp practices including the problem of ghost workers in the system.

The SA said that the plan when implemented will  guide government take well informed and fact-based decisions that would serve in the best  interest of not only the workers, but the state at large.

She further charged the Permanent secretaries to articulate all government intervention programmes in their MDAs and suggest specific areas for improvement; and this should be submitted in both hard and soft copies to the Office of the Head of Service not later than 2 weeks.

The meeting which had in attendance 17 permanent secretaries, also deliberated on issues that would enhance workers welfare and performance, especially on bridging communication gap between the Government and workers in the entire state, through constant meetings to carry workers along on government policies and programmes aimed at improving their welfare.

She  urged the permanent secretaries to take the tree planting exercise very seriously as it will not only enhance the aesthetic value of our environment, but would also help in mitigating the challenges posed by the increasing global warming on our environment.

She directed for a weekly clean up exercise in all the MDAs and urged the Permanent Secretaries to champion the course.

Mondays was also adopted for prayers in all the MDAs from the hours  of 8am to 9am.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice who did the vote of thanks, appreciated the Governor for not allowing vacuum in office of the Head of the service and assured of the permanent Secretaries' support and cooperation.
