Umahi flags off tree planting exercise in Ebonyi


 

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Umahi has officially flagged off tree planting exercise for the year 2021 to create good environment and to protect ozone layer from depletion.



The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe said the planting of the tree is to ensure that Ebonyi State environment is naturally beautified for healthy living.


“I encourage individuals to emulate what Ebonyi State Government is doing today. 


"This trees we are planting  will serve our generations tomorrow,” Umahi said.




The Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Environment, Prince Sunday Ugwuocha also said that the tree planting exercise is to prepare Ebonyi environment against any climate change that might occur at any point in time.



“We are  planning over five million trees in the State, that is why we have extended the exercise to various secondary and primary schools”. Ugwuocha said.




"The Ministry of Environment will deploy experts to ensure that the trees are adequately taking care of to serve the purpose of planting it."




Ugwuocha added that "Ebonyi State targets to plant over 5 million trees" and urged individuals to participate fully in the tree planting exercise.
