Ebonyi: Ezza South council introduces monthly sanitation exercise

 


The Ezza South Council Boss, Hon. Engr. Kenneth Eze has reiterated his administration's readiness  to make Onueke, the headquarters of the council and its environs, the most cleanest in the State.


Eze who made the assertion at Ekeimoha market square on Thursday while monitoring the general clean-up exercise organized at his instance, said the exercise would now be holding every first Saturday of the Month.

"This exercise has become a monthly exercise. We will be organizing it on monthly basis. It will now be on every first Saturday of the month.

"Why we choose to fix today's own today (Thursday) is because of the urgency of it. It is very important we rescue this market from possible collapse.

"We will reintroduce drainage channels to ensure free follow of water in the market and its environ.


The Council boss, however, directed the head of workers department (HOD) Mr.  Aligwe Sabastine to write to some of shop owners who chose to block the water ways to beautify their shops.


He noted that those who might not want to follow his directive, would found themselves to blame at the end of the exercise

"Because of the attitude of the shop owners, we will give them between today and Monday next week to reintroduce the water channels again, since they were aware that there was an existing water channel.

"So, on this premise, I am directing the Ebuebuagu security outfit to ensure strict compliance of this order and ensure that defaulters will pay #50,000 or above depending on the gravity of their offenses.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of National Union Road Transport workers, Onueke Branch, Mr. Jude Okwume thanked the executive chairman, Engr. Kenneth for his resilient spirit in piloting the affairs of Ezza South LGA since assumption of office.

He assured that he would reciprocate the gesture of the Council boss, noting that all he needed was his directive to act.
