Sports Development: Ex-Minister, other Ebonyi stakeholders applaud Umahi

 ----Urge youths to utilize opportunity to harness talents

Across section of Ebonyi people have continued to pour an encomium to the State Governor and Chairman South East Governor's Forum Engr. David Umahi for his effort in re- introducing School sports competition in the Primary, Secondary  and Tertiary institutions in the State.



The People made their feelings known during the grand finale of Governor David Umahi's School sports competition at Pa- Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki.

Speaking, the former Minister of State for Power and Steel, Chief Godwin Ogbaga congratulated the Governor for engaging youths in a sporting activities as the best opportunity to harness talents, saying the performance of the participants showed a clear evidence that Ebonyi youths are talented.

Chief Ogbaga who was overwhelmed over the exercise noted that Governor Umahi's developmental projects within six years in office are second to none, stating  that the exercise would strengthen and enhance the unity and peace of youths of the State especially in the warring communities.

He commended the participants, organizers and commissioner for sports and youth development for a job well done, adding that the football competition is another landmark achievement of the State Governor and prayed God to take him higher in his future endeavors.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ezza South South Local Government Area, Engr. Kenneth Eze lauded Governor Umahi for resurrecting sports in the State, adding that the competition was a great opportunity to champion the course of peace and unification of  Ebonyi youths, health benefits, among others.

He maintained that a lot of hiding talents have been discovered but said that if properly handled it would improve the lives of youths and also reduce criminal activities and charged youths to engaged themselves meaningfully for the overall development of the State. 

On his part, the Member representing Afikpo South West  Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Nkemka Onuma Okoro noted  that Umahi has achieved a lot within his six years in office, describing him as a visionary and a leader per excellent, even as he challenged the doubting Thomases to come and see the heart best of the Governor by themselves.

He appealed to youths and school children to shun indulging act capable of jeopardizing their futures. 

In their sperate contributions, the coordinator of Amaoha Development center, Mr. Theodore  Ihite, and his counterpart of Edda West Development Center, Mr. Chima Nnachi Okoro, the past Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Mr. Onyekachi Nwoba and a Public Affairs Analyst, Dr. Livinus Ezeuwa thanked  Governor Umahi for his performances in the office for the past years, describing some of his projects and people oriented projects as very wonderful and enjoined youths of the State to be steadfast in supporting the policies and programmes of the Governor to enhance  more robust development. 

Others who spoke on the sporting activities including, a motorcyclist,  Mr Johnson Una and Chairman Parents Teachers Association, PTA of St. Michael College, Oshiri in Onicha Local Government Area, Mr. Michael Awoke, among others thanked the Governor for re-launching of sports competition in the State, describing the action as very timely, as it would help to keep the youths of the State busy, thereby reducing youths restiveness in the society.

They further applauded the organizers of the football competition and described it as way of harnessing talent from the younger ones, as that would help to grow the economy of the State.
