Umahi hailed for gracing Ebonyi school sports zonal series

 


Hon. Charlse Akpuenika, The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports has hailed Governor David Umahi’s presence at the various zonal centres for the state’s school sports competition.

The commissioner gave the praise in Abakaliki in an interview on the 2021 edition of the competition tagged: Governor David Umahi Annual School Sports competition.

“The governor’s presence at the venues showed his commitment to ensure that policies aimed at reviving the competition are implemented.

He noted that the governor was at the Government Secondary School Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area on Tuesday which is the centre for the Ebonyi south senatorial zone’s elimination series.

“He watched the football match between St. Michael’s Secondary School Oshiri and the Government Secondary School Afikpo, his alma mater.

“He said will also observe proceedings at the Ezza Model Secondary School, Izzikworo, Ezza South LGA on Wednesday which is the centre for the central senatorial zone.

Akpuenika said that the governor will also watch proceedings for the northern senatorial zone’s series and commended him for his donations to participants in the competition.

“We will successfully host other competitions which include the King David male football champions and Queen Rachel Women championship; all for the 24 state constituencies in the state.

“We would also organise the second edition of the David Umahi tertiary institution games as the new male and female football teams for the state will be formed with bulk from talents discovered from the competitions.

He said that the youths are grateful to the governor for engaging them positively which will enable them to harness their talents and shun crime.
