Today, 16th of May has been selected as the International Day of Light. Thus, light has always been celebrated on this day globally. This is therefore owing to the universe importance of light to humanity. Light has become synonymous with life. This was why Light was the first thing God created after creating the world.
The Bible records that "the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep...And God said let there be light . And there was light" (Genesis 1:2,3). Light became the first thing or word to be uttered from God which relished the world from its chaotic mass with beauty, meaning and purpose.
Light therefore can be defined as an INCANDESCENT FORCE which gives meaning, direction, beauty, ambience , colour and value. Light brings orderliness, happiness , comeliness and vivacity. In other words, it is a means of longevity and serenity.
Light, is a GRAVITATIONAL TRANSFORMATIONAL TOOL FOR SUSTENANCE DEVELOPMENT. Light has some metaphorical features and properties for spiritual, scientific, infrastructural and economic developmental values. The absence of light is the presence of darkness with its attendant chaos of insecurity, backwardness and LACKLUSTER OF EXISTENCE.
Life without light is therefore BRUTISH, PRIMITIVE CALLOUS AND SHORT. This is the most reason the Industrial Civilization of the 17th century started with discovery and advancement of the force of light. No society can develop and advance without light. This is the more reason light has become the priory feature and attention of the first world, civilized societies.
When His Excellency, Gov. David David Umahi , came on board as the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, one of the priority areas of his developmental agenda was the installation of functional lights in all nooks and crannies of Ebonyi State which includes the 13 Local Governments and their communities, which he has achieved more than 100%

Those who see the developmental milestone of Gov. Umahi's avid and adroit administrative project of adorning the state with incandescent lights as a nostra have become oblivious of the backward State of Ebonyi before Gov. Umahi came on the saddle. They have also failed to realize that Ebonyi today, has become more secured with an envious status of an investment and economic tourist destination.
Ebonyi and indeed the entire Africa owes Gov. Umahi thanks of gratitude and recognition for making Africa proud in the GLOBAL LEADERSHIP HALL OF FAME.
