Federal Lawmaker commends Governor Umahi for awarding ring roads in Ebonyi

The member representing Ikwo/ Ezza South Federal Constituency in the Green Chambers, Hon. Chinedu Ogah has commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Nweze Umahi for awarding the ring roads project in the state.

The Federal lawmaker made this known during the weekend while interacting with newsmen in Abakalki.

He referred to the project as a dream come true in the life of Ebonyians and annals of political leadership in the state.

The Green Chambers lawmaker said,
"the ring roads contract award will bring about all round economic growth and development to the state.

"It will also open up the rural areas for onward transportation of their rich agricultural produce into the city.

"It will also connect us to other states where we are hitherto cut off from.

"The construction of these ring roads will also attract foreign investors to have direct access to the rural areas in the state among other invaluable benefits."

Speaking further, Ogah eulogized Governor Umahi, stating that the main objective of Ebonyi Ring Roads Project was to contribute to socio-economic development, poverty reduction through improved road infrastructure transportation mechanism, to reduce road maintenance costs, vehicle operating cost, reduce road accidents/mishaps and travel time.

He as well commended the governor for taking the bold step in developing Ebonyi State.

"I thank you for what you have done so far. I equally urge those in opposition with the habit of destructive criticism on the achievements of the governor to come home and see the evidence of development, since it's not all about the party affiliation but about the dividends of democracy shared among the masses. Even if you hate the governor as a person, love him for what he has done for Ebonyians. He has given us the face, he has given us the name and has given us an address to boast of. As it stands now, an Ebonyi man can stand out courageously to speak outside the state; courtesy of Engr. David Nweze Umahi," Ogah said.

He however, urged every other politician to value what they have at hand irrespective of what one stands to benefit.

"Some of us who were in opposition can now raise our shoulders high outside there to appreciate what the governor have done. One, let us stop hating ourselves irrespective of the party, we are still one, from Ebonyi State," he added.

Furthermore, Ogah stressed that, "given the economic situation in the country, the significance of the Abakaliki ring road in the lives of Ebonyi masses and the degree of dilapidation on the 37-year old road, every sane and patriotic Ebonyian irrespective of political or ideological affiliations should support Governor Umahi at all levels to make Ebonyi State have more recognition at the national level."

He concluded that party comes and party goes, but the legacy of our leader has made Ebonyi Stand and Engr. David Umahi have done well by giving Ebonyi a face and address, hence, let us support him and eschew politics of bitterness characterized with character assassinations and other demeaning pay as you go character.

"H urge all the leaders to sit up and get ready to show their scorecards to the masses using the pragmatic and quality representation of Chief David Umahi as a specimen having performed credibly well with much evidence and convictions," he said.

Charles Iteshi, the Special Assistant to the Federal lawmaker on Media and Publicity wrote from Abuja.
