The member representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Senator Michael Ama Nnachi has frowned at what he described as the senseless killings going in Ebonyi State and charged the security agencies to live up to their civic responsibility which is protection of lives and properties in the society.

Senator Nnachi equivocally condemned the killings at Egedegede Community in Ishielu Local Government Area of the state by suspected herdsmen who allegedly invaded the communities with AK 47 Rifles and unleashed mayhem to innocent people.

NATIONAL PANEL gathered that the ugly incident affected the natives of  Nkalaha, Obegu, Amezu, Umuhuali in Egedegede Community with over 15 death tolls gathered.

He maintained that the scourge of Herdsmen has put Nigeria to a standstill as farmers' crops and other agricultural inputs are being destroyed by herders marauding around the country to feed their cows, noting that if drastic measures are not taken to contain the menace, it may lead to disintegration of Nigeria.

He charged the security agencies to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law and intensify effort in ensuring that the rural dwellers are protected from further attack or any security breach.

The Red Chambers Lawmaker also called for peace to end ongoing crisis between Effium and Ezza Effium which has left many dead, including destruction of lives and properties.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased families as he urged the security agencies to enforce the presidential order on shoot at sight on herdsmen carrying AK 47 rifles to forestall future occurrence without fear and favour in order to safeguard the rural dwellers from this genocide been perpetrated by the herders.
