 By NATIONAL PANEL REPORTERS

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has condemned the gruesome attack on the people of Umuoguduakpu Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, yesterday by suspected Agila rivals from Benue State.

He stated this, Tuesday on his confirmed social media page.

Nwifuru described the ugly incident as a huge assault on the peaceful decorum of the state and well-being of Ebonyi people.

He said: "We are livid at this barbarism and rightly so. Let our assaillers be reminded that no one has a monopoly of violence. His Excellency, Governor David Nweze Umahi, in conjunction with Government at all levels and security agencies are taking measured steps to maintain sanity, but that shouldn’t be misconstrued for weakness.

"While I strongly condemn this evil on our people, I most humbly implore us, especially our lovely people of Umuoguduakpu Mgbo to exercise restraint amidst our justifiable anger."

He regretted for such attack to have been launched against innocent people,  commended the effort of Governor David Umahi and the state Assembly lawmaker whose constituency was affected by the incident to arrest the situation.

"We regret that this attack has come but rest assured that on our part, all our legislative arsenals are in play to restore peace in the area and bring the perpetrators to justice.

"I commend Hon. Chinedu Onah, Member Representing Ohaukwu South Constituency, for his tireless efforts so far in the wake of this mayhem," he stated.
