Senator Uba reiterates commitment towards educational institutions

 


 


The Anambra South Senator and National Leader of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah disclosed this on Thursday, March 11, during the grand opening of Holy Ghost British Academy at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. He applauded the Convener of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministries Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma - popularly known as 'Ebube Muonso' for investing in the education sector. 

According to Senator Ubah: "...nation-building can not be achieved if proper attention is not given to the education sector."




Senator Ubah who further paid tribute to Rev. Fr. Obimma for building the education facility in Anambra State also used the opportunity to reassure his constituents, Ndị Anambra and Nigerians in general that he will always use instruments of his office to attract necessary government intervention in the education sector.

While elaborating on his legislative actions towards supporting the development of the education sector, the YPP national leader reaffirmed that he has sponsored several bills that when passed, will make quality education accessible to his constituents, ndị Anambra and Nigerians in general. 

Additionally, Senator Ubah revealed that the Bills include a Bill to upgrade Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State to Federal University of Technology Oko (2019); Metallurgy Training Institute Orumba (2020); a Bill to establish an Institute of information and Communication Technology, Uga; and National Institute for Business Studies Nnewi, Anambra State Bill. 

Senator Dr Ifeanyi  Ubah stated that he will never relent in working towards the smooth passage of those Bills and urged the government at all levels to always support private educational institutions through grants and adequate regulation.

In his address, the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke thanked Rev. Fr. Obimma for giving his best to the development of the education sector. He further prayed to God to nourish the Academy’s Management with more wisdom to pilot its affairs and assured the people that the Church will always support the development of the economy especially the education sector.

In a brief remark, the Academy Director Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma thanked Senator Ubah and other dignitaries for honouring the event’s invitation. He averred that the academy was established to support the efforts of government at all levels in providing quality education to the people. 

Rev. Fr. Obimma also expressed hope that the Academy will not only boost the development of the education sector but will also make quality education accessible to the majority of citizens. He also seized the opportunity to disclose that admission for the 2021/2022 academic session in the academy is currently ongoing for daycare, pre-school, reception class, nursery classes, JS 1 & 2 and SS1.

Other dignitaries who attended the event which held at the premises of the Academy in Obosi include the Executive Governor of Anambra State represented by his Chief of Staff, Primus Odili, Senator representing Anambra Central Iyom Uche Ekwunife, former Anambra State Governor Mr Peter Obi, former Anambra Central Senator, Chief Victor Umeh, former Anambra South Senator Chief Andy Uba,Chief Obiorah Okonkwo, Chief Greg Obi , Igwe Umunya His Royal Highness Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje,  members of Anambra State House of Assembly and several  clergymen.
