Royal Father denies endorsing Ebonyi PDP Chairman for governor

... Describes rumour as unfounded

               HRH Eze Sunday Oketa

The Traditional Ruler of Nkaleke Echara Unuphu autonomous Community and the Chairman of Oha Izhi, His Royal Highness Eze Sunday Oketa has debunked the news making the round in some quarters of the media that he endorsed the Ebonyi State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi for the state governorship come 2023 general elections.

Chief Oketa stated this while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki.

He wondered how the good sentiments expressed on the party leader during his Chieftaincy title award ceremony over the spread of democracy dividends to his People could be misinterpreted to mean endorsement for governorship in the next general elections.

The traditional Ruler while insisting that he was quoted out of context by the reporter of one of the National dailies, observed that he lacked the capacity to endorse anybody for the governorship slot of the whole state and advised Journalists to always cross-check their facts before publication.

He called on the general public to disregard the publication and the misleading information saying it does not represent the realities of time.

Eze Oketa also used the occasion to appeal to all Ebonyians to support the administration of Governor David Nweze Umahi and embrace peace at all times for the overall development of the state.
